Redesigning Your Website Without Losing Search Rankings
A redesign is an opportunity to improve your website — but done carelessly, it can undo years of search visibility. Here's how to redesign without losing the value you've built.
Map your existing URLs
Before anything changes, we crawl every existing URL and identify which pages receive traffic and carry search value.
Preserve valuable slugs
Where a page still has a purpose, we keep its URL. Where a page is being replaced, we map it to its closest replacement.
Prepare 301 redirects
Proper 301 redirects send visitors and search engines to the right new page. We avoid redirect chains and never redirect every removed page to the homepage.
Test before and after launch
Canonical tags, robots settings, analytics and internal links are all checked before and after the new site goes live.
In summary
A redesign doesn't have to mean starting over with search. With careful planning, you can refresh your website and keep the visibility you've earned.
